The Infirmary

Well, here we are going on two weeks of being sick and really with no signs of feeling any better. I actually was feeling better on Monday when I went to the doctor and then he pumped me full of drugs and now I feel worse! I made a call this morning and will hopefully be on my way back there sometime today, provided I feel well enough to shower and make myself presentable. At this point I think presentable would be brushing my teeth, combing my hair, and clothes that don't look too wrinkled to wear! Of course, the trip will be horrible because I have to take Owen with me. He loves to play with the toys in the waiting room but is not very happy when I drag him out of there to actually see the doctor. To top it all off, he woke up yesterday with a runny nose and sneezing every 3 minutes--and that's no exaggeration! He continues to do the same today, maybe a little less sneezing but also with a fever. He still seems to be his same old happy little self though! I wish I could say the same for myself. My head feels like it's going to explode and I'm pretty sure that sometime in the last two weeks I have coughed up at least one lung. How I'm ever going to get our entire family packed and go on a vacation tomorrow I will never know. Why is it that stay-at-home moms don't get sick days with our jobs? I think I'm going to have to add those into my contract.

LL Cool C

For those of you not familiar with rapper LL Cool J's moniker--the title would stand for "Ladies Love Cool Cody." :) We went to our friends, Andy and Chrissy's house for dinner last night. They have 15-month old twins, a boy and a girl. For some reason, the little girl just LOVED Cody. We see them every so often but not really often enough for her to remember who he is. But as soon as we walked in the door she climbed up in his lap and sat there for 10 minutes just looking around! It was so cute. She continued to do that for the rest of the night. I even tried to hold her once while I was sitting next to Cody and she kept reaching out for him. She wanted nothing to do with me! I was kicking myself all night because I didn't bring my camera so I didn't get to capture this cuteness on film. I guess ladies young and old must really love the new facial hair! ;)

In other news, I went to the doctor today for a routine check-up. He decided to put me on a decongestant and an antibiotic for the horrible coughs and headaches I've been having for the last week. He was concerned I might have strep but then decided it's just some nasty bug. Aside from a very annoying cough and that occasional pesky nausea, I am feeling ok. Owen and I had a "Mommy and Me" day today and went out to lunch and did a little shopping. We tried to find him some new shoes as his are a little small but to no avail. Why is it damn near impossible to get a toddler shoe in a half size?! Anyway, he was just a little angel and we just had the best time. It was one of those days that makes me happy I'm a Mom. Now if he would just take a good nap, the day would be even better! :)

Let's Hear it for the Boy!

Well, the Muhs legacy lives on and I continue to be outnumbered. That's right, we're having another boy! We found out yesterday after waiting very patiently for the little stinker to move his legs so we could find out. He was moving all over the place but never in the way we wanted him to! Of course, his daddy was so excited. He saw it first and said, "I see it! It's a boy! It's a boy!" I'm certain the woman thought he was a nutcase. Here are a couple of pictures that we got:

I'm sure in many years to come he will be so happy that I posted his business on the internet for all to see. :)

He never would show us his face so I have to go back for yet another ultrasound in 2 weeks. They like to be able to see everything to rule out any problems. So far everything looks good. His heartbeat was good and all the measurements seemed to be where they should be. He weighs 9 oz right now and is in the 40th percentile. And like his siblings before him, he is already breech! I really don't know what it is about my children that they like to be backwards in my uterus!

Male Bonding

Just thought I'd share a few pictures of my boys relaxing and watching a little TV together over the weekend. I got sick on Saturday night and stayed in bed most of Sunday so Owen was so excited to get to spend the whole day with Daddy. They have so much fun together!

Jailbird

We've had a pretty uneventful week around here, with today being no different. I wasn't feeling well this morning so Owen and I ended up sleeping in until nearly 10am. I know, I can hear many of you cursing me now. :) The downside to having a child that will sleep in is that said child also likes to stay up late! So, we are foregoing a nap this afternoon and hoping to get back on a more regular schedule. We have just been pushing bedtime back a little bit more each night over the summer, so my plan is to get back to our original 8pm bedtime in the next few weeks. The only problem is that I need to change my schedule to keep up with his, which is the hardest part! Anyway, so I pulled out the camera and took a couple of cute pictures this morning that I thought I'd share.

Here's my little jailbird. He loves to look at you through the banister, especially giving kisses through each spindle! We have to do that at night before he goes to bed.

Anytime I try to take a picture of him these days he just will not cooperate. He won't even smile, much less look at the camera. However, today he says to me, "Wanna take a picture?" I pull out the camera and turn it on him and he says, "Cheeeeese!!!!" like he's been doing it all his life. Little stinker!

Relaxing Weekend

Last weekend Cody was busy helping a friend move and doing some work on his house so Owen and I decided to head over to Peoria to visit Uncle Matt and Aunt Jess. They just moved into their new house about 3 months ago and it has a great in-ground pool and lots of rooms for everybody to stay in. So Auntie Gaye, Uncle Jay, Beth, and Cade also headed up for a great weekend of swimming and family fun. We had an awesome time doing nothing but chatting, swimming, and relaxing.

Uncle Matt set up the little DVD player for the boys since the adults were hogging the big TV. It worked out great for us and the boys loved it! Thanks, Uncle Matt!

Uncle Matt and Cade enjoying the pool

On Saturday night we gave the boys a bath together. It was Cade's first time having a friend in the tub and he just couldn't stop staring at Owen like, "Why is there someone else in here with me?" It was too cute and Owen just loved it!

Caders chillin' in the recliner with his Mama. I can't get enough of this little cutie!

What a little cheeser!!!

Thanks again to Matt and Jess for hosting us and to Auntie Gaye for cooking for us all weekend. We had a great time and can't wait to get together again soon!

"At Work"

Well, I've been trying to post some pictures of our weekend at Uncle Matt and Aunt Jess' but for some reason it's not working. So I thought I'd share a cute Owen story for now.

Owen, as most of you know, is crazy about his daddy. I think he makes a comment about Daddy at least 20 times a day, and usually it's inquiring about where Daddy is or when he'll be back or wanting to go see him wherever he is. So I always tell him "Daddy's at work." Even when Daddy is working in the yard or gone somewhere else, I just tell him he's at work because he seems to understand that that means Daddy's gone but he'll be coming back soon. However, now he thinks that's where EVERYONE is when they aren't here! Maddy and Grandma were visiting for a week and then a few days ago he told me, "Grandma's at work. Maddy's at work." Today he asked if he could go see his cousin, Luca, who lives 4 hours away and when I said we couldn't see Luca today he said, "Luca's at work." He even wanted to watch Barney this morning and when I told him Barney wasn't on right now he said, "Barney's at work." I'm just waiting for the day that he says, "How come Mommy never goes to work?" haha.

Patio Update

Cody worked on our new patio for the majority of the weekend, save for a couple of trips to Menard's to get MORE sand! It was so hot outside and he worked so hard that he went through 3 shirts! But he did seem to get a lot done. He's pretty sure he has enough sand down and is ready to start laying the bricks. He had trouble getting some good pictures though because it was so humid that the lens on the camera kept fogging up!!! Here are a few that he managed to get.

There is a pretty big drop off from the last stair on the deck to the ground so he is building a landing at the bottom. In between the landing and the patio will be brick stairs that match the patio bricks. I think it is going to look awesome once it's finished!

He was able to get the bricks in the landing last night before he quit.

Now we just have to find time for him to finish it! We are busy next weekend but he's hoping to get some work done on it after he gets home throughout the week. Those of you that know Cody well know it is rare for him to make it home from work before 7pm, but lately it's been as late as 9:30pm. So we'll see how this working throughout the week goes!

Summer in Bolingbrook

Well, it's been a few weeks since we took our vacation in Bolingbrook but I had so many great pictures that I thought I would share them. We had such a great visit with everyone. It was so nice to be there for 10 days and not have to rush around trying to get everything done in 36 hours! We visited with family and friends, went to the Morton Aboretum, Shedd Aquarium, and most importantly, the Brookfield Zoo.
I had to get a picture of Owen with Gramma Linda because she is always the one behind the camera and they never get their picture taken together--kinda like me, I guess!

One night we went over to Jesse and Abbie's house to visit (Cody's brother and his girlfriend). Owen had so much fun playing with his cousin, Luca. He had a field day with all of Luca's toys!

We went out back at their house and Owen had fun riding bikes with Luca. He still had a little trouble getting the hang of it so Daddy had to help him.

Luca is crazy about his Uncle Cody, but what kid isn't? I think it's because he relates to them so well on their level. haha.

This is a picture of my two boys walking through the Children's Garden at the aboretum that was just too cute for me to pass up. We also made the brave decision to take Owen on a 1 hour tram ride, during his nap time no less, through the aboretum. I thought we were making a huge mistake but it turned out to be the best day we've ever had together! It was so relaxing and enjoyable and Owen just loved it. He kept saying, "Weeee!!!!" and pointing out different birds and stuff. We saw a blue heron and he said, "Flamingo, flamingo!!!" Of course, we did have to pack him full of teddy grahams and peanut butter crackers to sustain that happiness but hey, whatever works, right?!

Looking at the penguins at Shedd.

Watching the feeding of the whales. I know it's just the back of his head but he was so cute! He just stood there mesmerized!

Probably our favorite part of the trip, the zoo.

Looking at butterflies

He thought it was so neat when one landed on Gramma's shoulder!

Brushing a goat at the petting zoo

He loves to get eye-level with any animal!

Here he is trying to climb in with the ducks and in the next picture, the elephants. He was so upset with us when we wouldn't let him get in with the animals! He just didn't understand why he couldn't do it!

So there's our vacation in a nut shell. Now we're looking forward to our next vacation over Labor Day weekend in the Ozarks with my 2 best friends and their husbands and kids. 6 adults and 5 kids 3 and under--are we crazy or what?! At least we outnumber them!

Meeting Baby Brandon

Well, after only 3 months we were finally able to get over to our friends Chuck and Dawn's house to meet the newest member of their family. Little Brandon was born in May and joined his big brother Jason. We had a great time visiting with them. So much so that I only got 4 pictures of the kids! Dawn and I were just chatting too much that I hardly took any pictures! But I did get a few keepers.

Here is the adorable Brandon. It's hard to tell in the picture but he has the cutest red hair--something his father continues to deny. Accept it, Chuck. It's red and it's adorable!!! :)

Big brother and little brother--aren't they so cute?!

Owen decided that he was going to get in on the action.

I asked Owen if he wanted to give the baby a kiss and he apparently thought I meant give him mouth-to-mouth! Hey, it's still cute! Let's just hope it's this cute when it's his own sibling!

Thanks again to the Knoxes for a great dinner and great company! We need to do that more often!

The Truth Comes Out!

So here is the real reason I have been such an absent blogger as of late.....

I know there are some of you that already know this but Cody and I have sort of kept it under our hats. We both know that anything can happen at any time in a pregnancy but we do feel that our risks our much lessened after 16 weeks, which is why we decided not to talk about it too much. It was a little awkward for Cody having to go back to work after we lost the baby and having to tell people about it. He took his cookies into work this morning to announce it there and he was so excited about it! (When anyone is pregnant you bring in chocolate chip cookies, and yes, they have to be chocolate chip, to announce it.)
So, I am about 16 weeks and things seem to be going pretty well. I have been either sick, exhausted or both, which is why I haven't had much energy for blogging. As soon as Owen goes down for a nap, I do the same! I haven't been as sick as I was with my last two pregnancies, which leads me to believe it is a girl but what do I know? We will actually find out the gender on August 23rd so we are excited about that. I had thought about waiting to find out but I'm just so dang curious that I don't think I can do it!!! My due date is January 18th, which means a c-section will probably be scheduled for around the 11th if nothing happens before then. Grandma Debbie is so excited about coming up here in the dead of the Iowa winter! ;)
